About The University Guide

When trying to figure out how to navigate a college town, students, parents, and new-comers want quick answers with personal recommendations for reputable businesses.

I have worked on campus as a sorority advisor for over twenty years but until my two children began college, I did not realize the need for an all inclusive handbook that provided vital information at your fingertips. Thus was born the idea for what would become, "the University Guide."

At that time I began compiling information about every aspect of the University. I researched what the University offered in terms of scholarships, tutorial services, computer labs, disability services, student health care, counseling, student exchange programs, Tuscaloosa and University websites, the yellow pages and the Tuscaloosa phone book.

Researching everything Tuscaloosa had to offer in areas of hotels, restaurants, shops, salons, banks, cleaners, doctors, dentists, attorneys, Realtors, Florist, and so much more.

I have tried to answer questions I personally had as a parent of an incoming college student. Information on campus visits, orientation, placement tests, honors programs, Bama cash, dining dollars, study labs and their locations, dorm information, campus organizations, free services offered to students, sorority and fraternity information, and the recruitment process at the University of Alabama.

This information was compiled to create the University Guide. The Newest Edition of The University Guide will be in the stores (hopefully) by the first week in December 2007.

My personal goal is providing needed information that will help prepare you for college life, prepare parents for an empty nest, or help new comers find a new nest to begin the next chapter in your life.

Welcome to the University and
Roll Tide!
