What McMaster University Is

McMaster University is a public research university in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1887, it has grown into one of Canada’s most research-intensive universities and is a member of the U15 Group, the association of Canada’s 15 leading research universities.

Postgraduate applicants typically need a four-year bachelor’s degree with a B+ average or equivalent (approximately 75%+ from a Tier 1 Indian institution, higher from others). Campus and Location

McMaster’s main campus is in the Westdale neighbourhood of Hamilton, a mid-sized city (population ~575,000) at the western tip of Lake Ontario. The campus is compact and walkable, with most faculties within a 10-minute walk of each other.

Hamilton is approximately 70 km from downtown Toronto (about 1 hour by car, or 1.5 hours by GO Transit bus). The city has been growing as Toronto’s housing costs have pushed people westward, and Hamilton’s own tech and healthcare sectors are expanding.
